Darren Smith will now turn his attention to Europe following a brief assessment with Kaizer Chiefs, the Siya crew has been informed.
As reported by the crew last week, Smith spent some time training with Amakhosi who are desperately looking for a striker.
He was the fifth forward the club has had on trial.
According to Siya sources, Smith, who recently parted ways with FAR in Morocco, managed to impress coach Arthur Zwane and his technical team, however, Amakhosi have decided to continue the search for a forward.
The player meanwhile, has set his focus on a return to Europe.
Having spent two seasons in Europe, where he turned out for Ekenas IF and FC Honka and managed two top goal scorer awards, Smith is understood to be itching for a return to the European leagues; although sources close to the player have stated that he is not completely closed off to a return to the DStv Premiership.
Smith will be hoping to clarify his future in the coming weeks, with most leagues around the world set to commence this weekend.
For Chiefs, however, the club's search for a striker is set to continue with the transfer window only coming to a close on September 2022.
