Two weeks after jetting off to Europe, the Siya crew has received an update on the progress of Kaizer Chiefs striker Mduduzi Shabalala in Belgium.
As previously reported by the Siya crew, Shabalala had left the country, making his way to Belgium to try his luck with K.V.C Westerlo, which would be the first of two European trials, with his assessment with FC Barcelona to follow at a later stage.

According to Siya sources, the 17-year-old spent the first few days training with the Westerlo first team which features Bafana Bafana striker Lyle Foster, under the watchful eye of coach Jonas De Roeck.
Thereafter, he was sent to train with the club’s under-21 side, where he is understood to have impressed.
The crew has further been informed that Shabalala is set to take part in a friendly match for the under-21s which will be key in determining whether he joins the Belgian second division champions or not.
“The boy has done well over there. Indications are that he is not quite ready for the first team just yet, but could join the under-21 side, if he manages to impress in the friendly,” the source informed the Siya crew.
