Khama Billiat has not been training with Kaizer Chiefs as the club prepares for the new season, amid reported interest in his services.
It was reported on the Soccer Laduma website that Raja Casablanca are keen on Billiat, with Moroccan publication Maghrib Foot stating that the Zimbabwean has been identified as a potential replacement for Zakaria Hadraf, who left the club for Saudi Arabia.
Although Zimbabwe did not do well at the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, Billiat left a lasting impression with his individual performances, and has attracted interest.
As reported by the Moroccan publication, Casablanca’s technical director Fathi Jamal has been on the look out in Egypt during the AFCON and has seemingly been impressed with Billiat.
The 28-year-old has not been back at Amakhosi since Zimbabwe’s 2019 AFCON campaign ended without the team progressing from the group stages, although indications from sources in the know are that the player has been given permission from the Naturena club.
“Khama Billiat will be back for the Carling Black Label Cup. He is one of the players that is being voted for by the fans to start in the match against Orlando Pirates,” said the source.
“Khama has been given permission by the club to enjoy a break after what has been a busy last few weeks for him. After the season ended, he went straight to the Zimbabwe national team for the COSAFA Cup, and after that he went to the AFCON. He is a human being also, and he needs a break at times. Khama is not the kind of a player who will go AWOL or do things like that. If he was asked to go and train (after coming from AFCON) he was going to go without asking for a break. Fortunately, he was given permission to take a break and he will be back soon,” the source added.
