Amakhosi Turned Down By EPL Defender…
With an offer on the table from Crystal Palace in the English Premier League, the Siya crew has been informed that a young South African defender has turned down a move to Kaizer Chiefs.
20-year-old Nikola Tavares, who was born in South Africa but grew up in Europe, is currently considering his options as his current deal in England draws to a close, with Palace having confirmed that they have tabled an offer to the Croatian youth international.
Tavares was linked with representing South Africa at U20, U23 and even senior level in recent months, however problems with paperwork meant that he was unable to do so and instead honoured a call-up to play for Croatia.
Palace confirmed on their official website this month that they were looking to retain the centre back for the 2019/20 season, though at this point in time it remains to be seen whether he will accept their offer or not.
Siya sources have suggested, however, that the former Brentford youngster was tabled a very strong offer from the Glamour Boys recently as they look to plan for the future at Naturena, though he opted against making the move to the Absa Premiership at this time.
It appears that Chiefs weren’t the only ones to miss out though, with other clubs in the United Kingdom also believed to have shown interest, and the player also rejected an offer from Hajduk Split in Croatia as he draws closer to penning a new deal in London.
