Seven Chiefs Stars Confirmed For AFCON 2019...

They may have had a season to forget in South Africa, but Kaizer Chiefs have now had seven of their stars confirmed for their respective countries at the African Cup of Nations.

The continent’s biggest competition gets underway in just a couple of weeks’ time, and the Glamour Boys’ players will have the chance to redeem themselves for their nations after what was a torrid campaign for the Amakhosi domestically.
Chiefs finished outside the top eight and with their lowest points tally since 1985 in 2018/19, also once again failing to land themselves a trophy, but all is not lost for seven of their players as they make the trip to North Africa.
In fact, all of the club’s foreign African players aside from Willard Katsande made the cut for their respective nations, while one of their former players – Virgil Vries – was dropped following Namibia’s recent camp – another blow after his Chiefs contract was terminated recently.
After Stuart Baxter named his Bafana Bafana side for Egypt, Bruce Bvuma, Ramahlwe Mphahlele and Daniel Cardoso will all have been delighted to have done enough to secure their spot on the plane, while Zimbabwe – a team full of stars from the Premier Soccer League – have named both Teenage Hadebe and Khama Billiat.
Meanwhile, Daniel Akpeyi was confirmed in Gernot Rohr’s Nigerian side as they prepare to return to AFCON action after a lengthy absence, and Andriamirado ‘Dax’ Andrianarimanana completes the seven after being named in Madagascar’s 23-man squad last month already.
Which Chiefs star do you think will make the biggest impact at AFCON 2019?
