Chiefs CAF Opponents Revealed

Kaizer Chiefs’ Opponents for the CAF Champions League preliminary round have been confirmed.

The Soweto giants will face-off with Cameroonian Premiership Champions PWD Bamenda.

After Amakhosi’s second-place finish in the 2019/20 Absa Premiership campaign, Gavin Hunt’s side will begin their CAF Champions League campaign in the first preliminary round.

The Soweto giants will first face-off with Cameroonian Premiership Champions PWD Bamenda and if they win the tie, will then meet Angolan champions, Primeiro Agosto, in the second preliminary showdown.

Gavin Hunt's side are currently struggling for form in the 2020/21 campaign, winning just two of their past six encounters, with their main problem being their lack of goals.

Amakhosi have registered just three goals all season, two of them coming from a defender, Yagan Sasman, in the MTN8 quarterfinals and another as an own goal in a DStv Premiership clash against Chippa United.

Meanwhile, the Soweto giants have conceded nine in all competitions.

However, they will be hopeful of a turn around in form once the domestic campaign resumes following the FIFA break and after being knocked out of the MTN8 competition, they can look forward to returning to action on the African continent.
