It should have been a night to savour for Lazarous Kambole as he was handed a starting berth in Kaizer Chiefs’ 50th-anniversary game, but instead he’s now waiting on medical reports…
The 25-year-old from Zambia has not had the easiest starts to life at Naturena following his move from ZESCO United before the season got underway, but was named in the Amakhosi XI on Wednesday night as they were pitted against Highlands Park in front of a big crowd at FNB Stadium.
It was the attacker’s first start for Chiefs since back in November having spent the bulk of the last couple of months on the bench alongside Ernst Middendorp, but it lasted just 22 minutes as he had to be taken off following a clash of heads with Sello Motsepe.
It’s thought that Kambole has suffered a suspected concussion following the heavy blow to his head in the early stages of the game, and if true that would mean that he’s likely to spend a brief spell on the sidelines – starting out by missing this weekend’s game against Cape Town City.
It remains to be seen what the diagnosis will be regarding the Chipolopolo star’s situation, though the club will likely give an update ahead of their next tie on Sunday afternoon.
