Kaizer Chiefs, who have booked their spot in the group stages of the CAF Champions League campaign, are eager to go all the way in the competition.
The Soweto side secured a 1-0 aggregate win over C.D. Primeiro de Agosto in the second preliminary round of the Champions League competition, which was one goal enough to ensure that Chiefs meet up with some of Africa’s biggest clubs in the group stages.
Khama Billiat, one of Chiefs’ key players, had a big role to play in the goal which hit the back of the net compliments of Leonardo Castro.
“Normally the coach is always on my case that my strength is to run behind the defenders and make sure the attack finishes the play and as soon as Njabulo Blom and (Philani) Zulu got the ball, I just turned and gave them my back and started running. Exactly as I expected, Njabulo put the ball behind the defence and made it easy for me, I was left with a 1v1 and told myself to eliminate the one in front of me and my player will be in the box, which Castro was in the right position at the right time,” Billiat told the media.
However, looking forward, the Zimbabwean international admitted that Chiefs are in it for the long run and are eager to go all the way in the prestigious competition and possibly lift the trophy at the end of the campaign.
“I personally believed that everyone wants to go all the way, we really need to be the generation to actually do what the best of the club has done and this club has got a very good history and we don’t want to be the ones to not pull the weight. We want to make our chairman proud it has been too long.”
