Goalfest? Chiefs/Polokwane Record Looks Good…
Kaizer Chiefs are looking to keep their early season good form going this weekend, and it could be a goalfest if previous encounters are anything to go by…
The Glamour Boys are one of only two teams (the other is Mamelodi Sundowns) who are yet to lose a game in the Absa Premiership this season following a flying start under Ernst Middendorp, but they’ve dropped points in both of their last two games with Rise & Shine.
Chiefs and City have met on 12 occasions in the league since the start of the 2013/14 season, with only two games ending as a 0-0 stalemate and the teams averaging 2.3 goals per match.
Amakhosi lost out the last time they hosted Polokwane as they were beaten 1-0 back in October, but they have scored 14 goals in their six home games (2.33 per game) and have won four of them.
Middendorp, who should have Khama Billiat back available for selection after his Zimbabwe heroics, will be eager to get another win under his belt to make it 13 points from a possible 15, but City – who have only lost once themselves – are no doubt itching to make sure that doesn’t happen.
