A former Kaizer Chiefs player has urged Amakhosi to hand one of the club's most experienced players a new contract when it expires at the end of the season.
Amakhosi's Nigerian goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi will see his contract come to an end in June 2022, and he is currently putting himself in a good position to get a new deal, with some solid performances between the sticks for the Soweto giants.
The former Chippa United shot-stopper has played seven of Amakhosi's last matches and has kept three clean sheets during the period, proving to be one of the stand out performers in the side's recent renaissance.
Akpeyi is the goalkeeper with the most appearances this season at Chiefs and former Amakhosi left back David Kannemeyer feels that the 35-year-old's future beyond the current campaign remains with Amakhosi.
"With his performances, it's only fair that they give him a contract. Goalkeepers can play for a very long time. He has been doing his job well, like any other goalkeeper must do," Kannemeyer told the Siya crew.
