According to high-level sources, Chiefs have put another offer on the table for Siyethemba Sithebe, the Siya crew can reveal.
Earlier this month, talks for a contract extension between AmaZulu and the 29-year-old reached a deadlock, fuelling indications that the star was close to an exit.
Sources close to the deal have revealed that a meeting between the Chiefs and AmaZulu hierarchy was held over the weekend.
The Glamour Boys are understood to have made a decision to up the ante, to ensure that the club remains in contention for Sithebe's signature.
It is believed that discussions are at an advanced stage, with indications that the deal could be concluded today.
As previously reported by the Siya crew, AmaZulu have expressed their displeasure in the manner in which an approach was made for the player.
"Kaizer Chiefs didn't do justice because they spoke and finalised everything before the transfer window opened. In December they were already done with his deal which is unacceptable, but we don't want to start anything," an angry Sandile Zungu revealed to the media last week.
Despite the bitterness expressed by the Usuthu management, insiders have revealed that the deal has not yet soured, with an announcement believed to be imminent.
