A former Kaizer Chiefs player has criticised the team for how they play despite the notable improvement by Stuart Baxter’s side and with the team getting the desired results lately.
Chiefs have moved to second place on the DStv Premiership log after their 3-1 victory over Swallows FC on the weekend and are preparing to host Cape Town City in their next match this Saturday.
While Khama Billiat and Keagan Dolly have brought so much joy to Amakhosi supporters with their impressive performances and goals, former Chiefs defender Peter Matshitse is still not convinced about the team’s style of play and is criticising Baxter for how the team has been playing.
“I wish you were asking me about Chiefs’ chances of winning the league with the team still under Arthur (Zwane) and I would have had a definite answer for you. My answer to your question would be yes. But now the team is under Baxter and I am still trying to understand how he wants them to play. I don’t understand the coach’s style of play even though they are winning some of the games,” said Matshitse.
“Even the last time, when Chiefs won the league under Baxter, it was difficult to understand the coach’s style of play. The way Chiefs was playing, it was not convincing because they were just kicking the ball forward and hoping for the best and luckily for them, they won the league. I see Baxter is doing exactly the same things he was doing, and it isn’t nice to watch. We want players to play attractive football and not be like robots. I am not convinced,” the former centre-back added.
