Two in 42! Chiefs Striker Opens Up After Ending Drought

Kaizer Chiefs striker Lazarous Kambole described the feeling of breaking a scoring drought that had gone on for over a year.

The Zambian forward, who was placed on the transfer list at Naturena before the start of this season, netted Amakhosi's final goal in the 4-0 thumping of Chippa United at FNB Stadium over the weekend.

It was his 42nd appearance for the club since joining in 2019 and only the second time he got his name on the scoresheet. It's a perfect opportunity for him to find the back of the net regularly with Samir Nurkovic and Leonardo Castro out recovering from injury.

“It is good to be back in the team. To be on the scoresheet is a great feeling and I am happy for the team and I am happy for the goal. I am hoping that going forward I can score more goals for the team,” the striker told the Amakhosi website.

“The most important thing is to focus on the things you can change. You just have to continue working hard and the goals will come. I have to put in a lot of effort in training and pray for more goals to come,” the 27-year-old added.

Kambole is likely to get another opportunity when Amakhosi take on SuperSport United at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Sunday.
