Kaizer Chiefs forward Dumisani Zuma has been praised for his work-rate as the Soweto giants attempt to get their season back on track after a slow start.

Against AmaZulu on Wednesday, Zuma was handed his first start of the season along with Samir Nurkovic who was also starting for the first time, as Chiefs coach Gavin Hunt tried different attacking options after the team was dealt a huge blow this week due to some of the first-team regulars ruled out by respective injuries.

Amakhosi confirmed on Tuesday that Zimbabwean international forward Khama Billiat would be out for two months after cracking a leg bone, while Colombian striker Leonardo Castro was said to have an abdominal strain.

"I have been saying all along that the guy (Zuma) should be starting matches anyway. I rate the boy highly and I don't understand why he hasn't been playing regularly. Since last season under the club's former coach Ernst Middendorp, the boy has been trying his best despite his limited game time as he was being used mostly as a substitute," added the outspoken footballer-turned analyst.
