Word reaching the Siya crew is that Kaizer Chiefs and Stellenbosch FC have opened talks over the possible transfer of striker Ashley Du Preez.
As reported by Soccer Laduma as far back as last year, Chiefs have been flirting with the possibility of luring the red-hot Bafana Bafana striker to Naturena, however, Stellies have been adamant on holding onto their prized possession who has come into his own this season.
Now, the latest news reaching the crew is that the two clubs have formally opened talks!
According to Siya sources, Stellies are willing to listen to offers for Du Preez, with Chiefs and Sundowns both understood to be keen on landing the striker.
Featuring as Stellies’ main striker this season, Du Preez has polished his finishing – an element that has been lacking in his game – which saw him rack up an impressive nine goals in 30 appearances for coach Steve Barker’s side.
Du Preez form has also seen him being included in coach Hugo Broos’ preliminary Bafana Bafana side who are due to play Morocco and Zimbabwe in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers which begin in June
