The 27-year-old Kenyan international – the first player from his nation to sign for Chiefs – was announced as Amakhosi’s latest signing on Wednesday afternoon after it was confirmed recently that he had left ZESCO United and was now a free agent.
It has since been confirmed that the defensive midfielder has signed a three-and-a-half-year deal with the Glamour Boys that will take him through until June 2023, and he’ll be working hard to try and force his way into Ernst Middendorp’s plans as soon as possible.
A statement on the club’s official website confirmed his deal when they said, “Kaizer Chiefs have signed Kenyan international Anthony ‘Teddy’ Akumu Agay on a three-and- half year deal. The player joins the Glamour Boys from Zambian club Zesco United. Chiefs confirmed the signing on Wednesday with Akumu becoming the first Kenyan international to sign for the club.
“Akumu is a well-travelled midfielder having played club football at the highest level in Kenya for Kenyan champions Gor Mahia 18 times, as well as for Al Khartoum in Sudan and ZESCO in Zambia.”
