Chiefs Star: It Was Hard To Accept…
The last 12 months or so have not been easy for Kaizer Chiefs’ Reeve Frosler, but after playing his part in the COSAFA Cup for Bafana Bafana, things could be on the up…
Frosler, who is still just 21, joined the Glamour Boys at the start of the year after a very tough end to his career at Bidvest Wits that saw him left out of the first team completely after he showed promise early in his professional career.
Ernst Middendorp eased him into the squad at Naturena following his move from Braamfontein, and he was given his Chiefs debut in April against Black Leopards, but with a full pre-season on the horizon after he played for Bafana, he’ll be hoping to stake his claim to take on the fullback position on a permanent basis.
Speaking to Chiefs’ official website after South Africa won the COSAFA Cup plate final, the defender said, “It’s always a great honour to be selected to represent my country, it’s also an opportunity for me to showcase my talent as a player at an international level… We played according to plan, but did not convert our chances. I’m happy with the experience gained in the tournament.”
Meanwhile, Frosler also touched on missing out on the U23s last camp, though added that it wasn’t a shock to him, saying, “I missed out on the camp against Angola, it was hard to accept, but I’m professional enough and the reasons were clear. Remember I did not have much game-time prior to the camp. I’m happy that despite that, I was in the radar of the selectors. That’s encouraging for any player and I’m grateful.”
The former Wits man played four games in domestic competitions for Chiefs in 2018/19, and will be eager to get more under his belt when the new campaign gets underway.
