Middendorp Meeting Chiefs Bosses!
While reports of a possible exit do the rounds, it is thought that Ernst Middendorp will meet with Kaizer Chiefs management over the course of this week, with indications that a decision on his future may have been made.
Middendorp joined Chiefs in December with the club wallowing in a mid-table position in the Absa Premiership and already out of the MTN8 and Telkom Knockout, and while their league fortunes didn’t improve – they finished ninth – he did guide them to their first cup final since 2016.
The German is thought to have gained some favour with the club following the promotion of players such as Happy Mashiane and Nkosingiphile Ngcobo in the first team matchday squad, and there is still a chance that he will be in charge of the Amakhosi for the start of the 2019/20 campaign.
While there is clearly nothing concrete regarding his immediate future at this point in time, the crew has been informed that a meeting between Middendorp and the club will be happening this week, and indications – for now at least – are that they could be discussing his plans for next season, something that may suggest that he will still be in charge.
Chiefs are set to begin their off-season after tomorrow as their players disperse away from Naturena following some testing in Pretoria on Wednesday, although there is still no official confirmation as to whether management will be backing Middendorp into next season or not.
