The Chiefs Attacker Aiming To Break His Duck v SuperSport
Kaizer Chiefs’ Lazarous Kambole was rewarded over the weekend for his efforts in Zambia last season, now he's turning to a different goal...
The 25-year-old former ZESCO United man has played 90 minutes for Chiefs in both of their opening games as they got off to a 100% start in this year’s campaign, but he is still waiting to get off the mark in terms of goals as he looks to leave his mark at Naturena.
While his Orlando Pirates counterpart, Austin Muwowo, scooped the big award of the night, the Footballer of the Year award, Kambole did manage to get his hands on two gongs at the ceremony and was also named in the Team of the Year.
The attacker will be disappointed to miss out again after the same happened last year, but he told Chiefs' official website prior to the awards, “I was nominated for the Player of the Year in 2018 but didn’t scoop the award but I am grateful for any form of recognition coming my way.”
Kambole, who was snapped up by Chiefs before the 2019/20 season started, was given the Fans’ Footballer of the Year and Most Disciplined Player of the Year awards after a fine season for ZESCO prior to his Amakhosi switch, and will be hoping to follow up his awards with his first Chiefs goal this weekend when they go into action against SuperSport United.
The Zambian international attacker, who is expected to feature once again at FNB Stadium on Saturday night, has had four shots (one on target) in his two games, and has made two interceptions and three clearances. Only Dumsani Zuma and Samir Nurkovic have averaged more touches in the box per 90 minutes (2), and just Nurkovic is averaging more final third passes (12.5).
Do you think Kambole can get his first Chiefs goal this weekend?
