It’s been confirmed that Phumlani Ntshangase has signed permanently with Maritzburg United.
The Siya crew reported in issue number 1191 of Soccer Laduma that Kaizer Chiefs were eager to land the services of Ntshangase after he parted ways with the Team of Choice following the expiry of his loan stint.
The 25-year-old’s contract with Bidvest Wits had also come to an end at the end of the season and at the time, Amakhosi were hedging their bets on the free agent, who has been on the radar of the Big Three for months.
However, with no official decision made as yet on Amakhosi’s two-window transfer ban appeal, the Soweto giants were unable to pursue their interest in Ntshangase any further.
As a result, Maritzburg have acted quickly to secure the player’s signature permanently on a two-year deal at the club.
During his loan stint at the club, Ntshangase went on to make just 17 appearances in all competitions and it remains to be seen whether regular game-time lies ahead for the player, especially following Miguel Timm’s exit from the Team of Choice.
