As the Coronvirus situation worsens in South Africa, Kaizer Chiefs have now taken measures to make sure that none of their players are put at risk…
The spread of the COVID-19 virus continues to grow in the country as more and more people test positive every day, and the Siya crew have been informed that Amakhosi have decided to stop training altogether so that their players can be protected.
Chiefs stopped training over the weekend as Ernst Middendorp gave them some time away from Naturena to spend at home in self-isolation, and they are only due to return late next week as things stand currently.
It is thought that the players have been given training programs that they should follow in order to keep them ready for action should they be called back in for any reason, though at this point in time there has been no indication of when football will return – only that the Premier Soccer League is hoping to have fixtures completed by the end of June.
Fans of the club will be delighted to see their team being proactive in helping combat the virus while some other teams keep training, and the fact that they are on standby is an added reason to stay isolated while in the grips of this global epidemic.
