The Glamour Boys have registered five players - Daniel Akpeyi, James Kotei, Lazarous Kambole, Leonardo Castro and Samir Nurkovic – as part of their squad for the 2019/20 season, while Arohasina 'Dax' Andrianarimanana has missed out and could be on his way out of the club.
Kambole and Nurkovic have made an immediate impact since moving to South Africa, playing all 180 minutes of Chiefs’ season so far as they got off to a 100% start, while Daniel Akpeyi was called upon for the clash with Black Leopards where he went on to keep a clean sheet.
Castro managed to turn his fortunes at Naturena around after he went from being transfer-listed to registered by Ernst Middendorp, and started the 1-0 win over Black Leopards earlier in the month after proving to the German that he deserved a place in the XI.
Kotei, meanwhile, was named on the bench v Highlands Park, but didn’t come on in the 3-2 win and is still awaiting his debut for the Glamour Boys following a switch from Simba SC in Tanzania at the start of the season.
The sixth foreigner, ‘Dax’ faces an uncertain future, and though he’s training with Chiefs at Naturena, he will have to move on before the transfer window closes if he’s to get any game-time in the season ahead - they have just under two weeks to make something happen, with Black Leopards still said to be keen on him.
Nurkovic - Most shots (5), most shot assists (5), most tackles won (3), most penalty area touches (9), and one assist.
Kambole - Only Nurkovic has had more shots (4) and made more passes in the final third (12.5).
Castro - One shot in his 45 minutes, two fouls committed.
Akpeyi - One clean sheet, four saves made, 100% save rate.
