After Kaizer Chiefs confirmed today that they had closed down their youth academy, and now they’ve announced another closure at Naturena…
The Glamour Boys are one of hundreds of sports teams around the world that have been affected by the Coronavirus outbreak that has led to the suspension of leagues and events across the globe, and the decision to shut down their academy was one taken with the safety of their players in mind.
Now, as the situation in South Africa worsens, Amakhosi have now explained that they have also decided to close down two of their stores, including the one at their Naturena Village in Johannesburg.
A statement from the club today said, “In the interest of our employees, partners, clients and supporters’ health, Kaizer Chiefs has decided to temporarily close the retail shops located at the Kaizer Chiefs Village in Naturena and the store located at Tramshed shopping centre in Pretoria.
“The COVID-19 pandemic outbreak demands that we take all the necessary proactive steps to help reduce and deal with the spread of the disease that has engulfed the world.
“The decision to close the retail outlets is brought about by our interest in reducing contact between our retail staff, players and supporters in order to minimise risk and potential exposure to the pandemic.”
