The Glamour Boys picked up a huge 1-0 win over Orlando Pirates at the weekend as they extended their lead over Mamelodi Sundowns and effectively ended the Buccaneers’ hopes of catching them at the top of the Absa Premiership table.
Willard Katsande, who captained the side once again at FNB Stadium, was unable to complete the game though after he picked up a knee problem, and it turns out that he may now miss the upcoming game against AmaZulu as he recovers.
Middendorp, however, was happy with Anthony Akumu as he came in to replace the Zimbabwean, hinting that he may well get his first league start against Usuthu this coming weekend.
Speaking to the club’s official website, the German said, “We have a couple of players that picked up some knocks. Willard Katsande is a concern with a knee injury, but we will get the medicals and know their status. I am satisfied with how Akumu Agay slotted in after replacing Willard. He is an experienced player and he did well for the team.

Meanwhile, regarding the AmaZulu game, Middendorp added, “Going forward against AmaZulu next week, it is not going to be easy. I don’t think AmaZulu are where they are supposed to be at the bottom of the log. We will prepare well for them.”
Chiefs face AmaZulu on Saturday evening at 19h15.
