The Glamour Boys managed to scrape past GladAfrica Championship side, Royal Eagles, with just a 1-0 win despite dominating the game, but there was a chance for Anthony Akumu to make his bow at FNB Stadium as he was thrown into the action in the second half.
Akumu came on for George Maluleka in the 86th-minute of the game - about 15 minutes after Amakhosi had taken the lead - as he helped them see out the game against the second-tier side from KwaZulu-Natal.
The 27-year-old became the first Kenyan to play competitively for the Glamour Boys following his move from ZESCO United in Zambia last month, and was seen sporting the number five jersey that was vacated by James Kotei when he left the club without even making his debut.
'Teddy', however, was straight into the thick of things as he waited just a couple of weeks before getting the chance to don the famous gold and black jersey... The Kenyan international had been wearing the number 33 on his training gear since arriving in South Africa, but it was the number five that he has been registered with.
