Records Chiefs Will Not Be Proud Of

With the season nearing the end, Kaizer Chiefs are already guaranteed to finish the campaign with some records they are not going to be proud of.

Amakhosi are CAF Champions League semifinalists, but they are having an awful domestic campaign, currently in 11th place with two matches still to play – against high-flying Golden Arrows and the resilient TS Galaxy side.

Already Amakhosi are guaranteed to finish with their lowest points total in the history of the PSL. Currently, their lowest points total was when they finished on 39 points, in ninth place, in the 2018/19 seaon.

Amakhosi are on 30 points in 28 matches, meaning they can only finish on 36 points.

The Soweto giants have registered six wins this season and even if they were to win their last two matches, it would still be the lowest number of victories they have managed in a campaign. Previously, the lowest number of victories they had registered before this campaign was in 2018/19 season (nine).

If Chiefs were to draw their last two matches of the season, they would match the 14 draws of 2005/06.

Amakhosi have lost 11 times this campaign, which is more than any other campaign in the PSL era. The most number of defeats they had registered in a season was 10, back in 2006/07 and 2008/09.

Upfront, Amakhosi have been poor, scoring 30 goals in their 28 matches. This, however, is not their worst campaign when it comes to goals. In the 2017/18, they finished the campaign with 27 goals.

They have conceded 35 goals this season, which is more than any other campaign since the league was reduced to 16 teams since 2002/03.

With the form they are in at the moment, Chiefs could struggle to collect maximum points, but there's is still hope of a top eight finish, though it depends on results elsewhere.

In the PSL era, Amakhosi have finished outside the top eight three times and they will be looking to avoid making it a fourth time.
