Chiefs Give Fresh Khune Update
Kaizer Chiefs have given a new update on the situation regarding Itumeleng Khune, revealing when he could finally make his return for the club.
The Bafana Bafana shot-stopper hasn’t played any competitive football since back in December, with surgery on a serious shoulder injury ruling him out for the entire second half of the 2019/20 season.
Ernst Middendorp had suggested that the 32-year-old could make a return against Highlands Park as the Glamour Boys got their season underway today, however it was young Bruce Bvuma who was handed a starting spot as Daniel Akpeyi sat on the bench.
Khune, who has been shown back in training, will be itching to get out on the field once again after such a long absence from the game, and his German head coach has said that he’s nearly back available once again.
Speaking to the club’s official website before facing the Lions of the North, Middendorp said, “He is getting closer and closer – we are working on getting him ready before the end of the current month.”
Next up for the Amakhosi is a clash with Black Leopards at Moses Mabhida Stadium next Saturday night.
