Transfer Deadline: Chiefs ‘Working On Scouting’
There are just a few days left before the South African transfer window slams shut, and Kaizer Chiefs are ‘always working on scouting’ according to their head coach.
Ernst Middendorp has brought in just five players this window with the likes of Lazarous Kambole, Samir Nurkovic, James Kotei, Kearyn Baccus and Yagan Sasman joining the club, with all five having now made the matchday squad at least once.
The German has previously stated that they are unlikely to make any more signings before Monday night’s deadline, but he has now admitted that they are on the lookout for new players – even if they’re not desperate.
Speaking of his current squad, Middendorp told the club’s official website, “I trust these players very much... We have done a lot of preparation in this team, in and outside of the field. We have selected a good squad, and we are working on other players to get them ready as well - think about Ngezana and Sasman for example.
“We are always working on scouting, but for now we aren’t looking desperately.”
Of the five players signed, two – Nurkovic and Baccus – have already scored and assisted in the Absa Premiership, while Kambole has featured in every game. Kotei and Sasman, however, will be hoping to get their official club debut at some point next month.
