Table-Topping Chiefs Working On ‘Keeping The Momentum’
Absa Premiership leaders, Kaizer Chiefs, are working at keeping up their momentum against Mamelodi Sundowns this afternoon as they go head to head with the reigning champions.
The Glamour Boys have had a fine start to their 2019/20 campaign under the tutelage of Ernst Middendorp, and are currently four points clear at the top of the table.
With the international break currently underway, the Amakhosi will not quite be at full strength at FNB Stadium this afternoon, but Middendorp says that it will be a good test for them as they work on ‘a few technical elements’.
Speaking to the club’s official website, the German said, “It’s good for us… We have it all worked out. Our approach is integrated into our planning and preparation. It is all comprehensive in terms of approach.
“It is an opportunity to sample a few technical elements of our game. It’s not only about that – there’s an element of keeping the momentum. If you recall before George Maluleka got injured, Willard Katsande was working hard to keep same level of fitness with the rest of the team. That’s why he came on and did the job for the team.”
Middendorp also added that he’s not ‘worried’ about their opponents, saying, “We are playing against one of the top teams. However, we are not worried about them. Ours is what we’ve planned, and we should do well and win the match. We’ve done all the necessary in the preparations.”
Chiefs and Sundowns lock horns at 16h00 this afternoon.
