Kaizer Chiefs’ Ernst Middendorp says Mamelodi Sundowns ‘have been talking a lot’, but has revealed his take on today’s encounter.
Pitso Mosimane has been very vocal about the clash at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Tshwane this afternoon, talking of prayers for the officials and how his side don’t need to beat the Amakhosi in order to win the league.
Middendorp, who has mostly refused to get sucked into the hype, insists that for the Glamour Boys it’s just three points and nothing more despite the fact that the two teams are fighting it out for top spot in the Absa Premiership.
Speaking ahead of the tie, the German told the club’s official website, “It is hyped up and the opponents have been talking a lot about this match… It is no doubt going to be a tough match for both sides. We are just happy to be part of this highlighted fixture.
“It is hyped as it is, which is good, but it’s another match of three points for us.”
There are a number of injury concerns for both sides, with Itumeleng Khune the most notable absentee after he was confirmed to be out with a groin injury, while Nkosingiphile Ngcobo is also still out following his Achilles surgery earlier in the year.
The game is due to get underway at 15h30 this afternoon in Tshwane, with the victor taking three points and the prize of finishing the weekend sitting pretty at the summit of the log.
