Kaizer Chiefs wonder kid Mfundo Vilakazi has been banished from the club’s DStv Diski Challenge team, the Siya crew has been informed.
Just last week an insider informed the crew that the teenager was excelling at Naturena and was in fact as good as the social media hype around him.
However, it seems coach Vela Khumalo has opposing views.
Well-placed Siya sources informed the crew that Vilakazi had been banished from the Amakhosi reserves and has missed their last two matches against AmaZulu and Stellenbosch FC respectively.
The source further indicated that ‘Obrigado’ has been sent to train with the club’s under-17 side where he featured in a match against Aces this weekend.
Reasons behind coach Khumalo’s decisions to axe the teenager from the squad remains sketchy, however the source informed the crew that the coach felt it was best to distance Vilakazi from the rest of the squad for the time being.
Vilakazi made his debut for the Amakhosi reserves in January last month where he scored within minutes of coming on in a big 4-1 win over Chippa United.
The teenager was handed a reserve team deal with Chiefs, who had fought off competition from the likes of Sekhukhune United, who were vying for his signature after he shone brightly in the Philly’s Festive Games for Doornkop Students.
