He’s played every single minute of Kaizer Chiefs’ season so far on the way to the top of the Absa Premiership table, but interest is mounting in one of Amakhosi’s most key players…
Daniel Cardoso has been an important component of Ernst Middendorp’s side so far this season, starting every game in all competitions for the German coach and scoring a handful of goals along the way.
Now though, having entered into the last six months of his contract with the Glamour Boys, the Siya crew has been informed that – as things stand – there is no contract in place beyond the 2019/20, though there is an option in place that Chiefs can exercise If they so wish.
As reported in this week’s issue of Soccer Laduma, Cardoso’s signature is in high demand following his performances over the last couple of seasons in a Chiefs shirt – he has matured into one of Mzansi’s most experienced heads in central defence and – according to Siya sources - his performances and contract status has got clubs around the world keeping tabs on him.
The Siya crew has been led to believe that there has been interest shown in the defender from America’s Major Soccer League, the Turkish Süper Lig and also in Dubai as clubs look at him as a potential defensive boost.
It is thought that the defender is keen to remain with Chiefs if possible, though no talks have taken place at this point in time.
