Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed the appointment of a former goalkeeper who has joined their technical team, in both the first and reserve teams.
Amakhosi seem to be planning for next season, following the confirmation of Aubrey Mathibe as goalkeeper coach. The Soweto giants announced that he would work in his new capacity as a goalkeeper coach in the first team, as well as the reserve side. According to the club, Mathibe will work closely with current senior team goalkeeper coach, Lee Baxter.
Mathibe spent a big part of his Amakhosi years as a second choice goalkeeper to the likes of Brian Baloyi, Rowen Fernandez, Emile Baron and Itumeleng Khune, before leaving the Soweto giants to play for Moroka Swallows in 2009. He also played for AmaZulu, Thanda Royal Zulu and Black Leopards.
In recent years, he's worked as a goalkeeper coach at TS Galaxy.
Amakhosi, meanwhile, are not in action this weekend due to the fact that they were knocked out of the Nedbank Cup.
