The Glamour Boys have plenty to smile about at the minute as they sit pretty on top of the Absa Premiership table, but today they were celebrating something different – the 75th birthday of their founder and chairman, Kaizer Motaung.
Motaung – who is out of the country at present – turns 75 years old today, and the Glamour Boys held a media day ahead of this weekend’s bumper encounter with Cape Town City in the Telkom Knockout, cutting a cake in his honour as they donned party hats and spoke of the challenges ahead for them in 2019/20.
‘Chincha Guluva’ has cemented his place as a legend in the game in South Africa, not only for his work on the field as a player, but also his decision to return home from the United States of America to form what is now arguably the most popular team in the country.
The players will now be looking to give Motaung the best birthday present of them all with a victory over the Citizens in the TKO on Saturday afternoon, a win that would take them one step closer to ending an uncharacteristic trophy drought for the Amakhosi.
