Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Arthur Zwane has given an update on two players who have spent a big part of this season nursing injuries, while also commenting on the side's Nedbank Cup opponents TS Galaxy.
Both Samir Nurkovic and Lebogang Manyama have been hampered by injury, but it seems they could be back as options for the technical team when DStv Premiership football returns in February.
"So far, so good, in terms of the response from the boys. It has not been easy obviously, because we come back from a situation. Getting about 10 to 12 days of rest, spending time with our families, gave us the opportunity to reflect. Coming back this year, and the second round of the league games, it's going to be demanding. In our six days of training, the boys look good, even those who are coming back from injury like Samir (Nurkovic). He is coming up well. Lebo also looks good," Zwane said via the Amakhosi media department.
"From the sessions, the boys have responded positively and we are looking forward to the games. We are going to be in camp for about 11 days, if not 12 days. Hopefully we are not going to experience some bad injuries in the camp and that we will have everyone available by the time we play our Nedbank Cup game."
Amakhosi will face Galaxy in the last 32, in a repeat of the final in 2018. On that historic day, Galaxy stunned Chiefs by beating the Soweto giants 1-0 at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
"We are playing against a difficult team in TS Galaxy. They have a coach who is doing well for them and you can see when they build up from the back, the structure looks solid. They are going to be a difficult team to break, but I think we are equal to the task."
