Samir Nurkovic slammed home at the near post to score Chiefs’ second of the game last month against Bloemfontein Celtic on the way to grabbing his first hat-trick for the club, and fans went on to vote for the goal as the best in the Absa Premiership for December.
The Serbian attacker is flying in his debut season in South Africa having already reached double figures in the league with a third of the season left to play, and he could well be on track to become the club’s highest scorer since Knowledge Musona.
But it’s not all about him, he says, telling the club’s official website, “It was a great assist from Lebogang Manyama… It takes a lot of hard work to build an understanding like that with your teammates. When the ball came, I had to think quick and went to beat the goalkeeper at his near post and it all worked out well.
“It is an honour to win this award a lot of other great goals were also nominated. This was also an important goal as it brought us back in the game and helped me go onto score a hat-trick. I am always pleased to contribute to a winning effort and what is important was that we won the game against Celtic.”
