The Amakhosi ended a lengthy opening day hoodoo over the weekend as they came from behind to beat Highlands Park 3-2 at Makhulong Stadium, and now they’re looking to make it back-to-back victories for the first time since March.
Ernst Middendorp, who was at Bidvest Stadium on Tuesday night, will have Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya and Yagan Sasman both available now after serving their respective suspensions, and it is expected that he will make changes to the XI that started against the Lions of the North.
Meanwhile it has also been confirmed that Lorenzo Gordinho, after starting for Chiefs on Sunday, will now be remaining at the club rather than moving on in the current transfer window.
As reported in this week’s issue of Soccer Laduma, the player’s agent, Mike Makaab – of Prosport International, explained that there was talk of an exit but that he will now be staying with the club.
Makaab said, “There was a possibility at one point that Lorenzo could have left Chiefs, but he’s worked hard during pre-season and is looking forward to his season ahead at the club.”
Chiefs take on Black Leopards on Saturday night in Durban in their first ‘home’ game of the season.
