Chiefs Confirm Rest For AFCON Stars, Except…
Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed that all but one of their African Cup of Nations stars have been given a break, however everyone is expected back this week before Saturday’s big game…
The Glamour Boys have been back at work for almost a month now as Ernst Middendorp prepares them for the 2019/20 season, with their new signings all now in full swing as they take aim at making their official Amakhosi debuts in the coming weeks.
Three of those signings got to play against Township Rollers as they were beaten 2-1, and one of them – Lazarous Kambole – is in line to get another starting berth at the weekend against Orlando Pirats in the Soweto Derby.
Of the seven players that Chiefs had playing for the likes of Bafana Bafana, Zimbabwe, Nigeria and Madagascar at the AFCON in Egypt, only Bruce Bvuma travelled to Botswana, with the others – aside from the sold Teenage Hadebe – set to be back at Naturena this week, including Khama Billiat.
Chiefs’ official website stated, “Most of the Chiefs players that took part at 2019 AFCON in Egypt were rested with the exception of goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma, who made the trip and was in goals for the match.”
Chiefs and Pirates lock horns on Saturday afternoon at 15h30.
