Kabelo Mahlasela should be given another chance to prove his worth at Kaizer Chiefs, according to former midfielder Junior Khanye, following the player's performance in a recent match last weekend.
Following his third Absa Premiership start of the season against Black Leopards on the weekend, Mahlasela was showered with praise by Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp for his performance, despite the fact that Amakhosi managed to come with only a draw from Thohoyandou.
Khanye says Mahlasela should get more opportunities to play from Chiefs’ remaining matches of the season.
“Kabelo Mahlasela deserves a chance to play regularly at Kaizer Chiefs. I would like to see the boy given another chance in the team. Can he be given a chance to play for 90 minutes in four matches in a row to prove his worth in the team? Kgotso Moleko is getting his chance after some time he was not playing, so it would be good to also see Mahlasela playing more. The boy was performing well for Bloemfontein Celtic and he can do the same for Chiefs,” said Khanye.
The former crowd-favourite says he would also like to see Dumisani Zuma starting more matches for the Soweto giants.
“I would also like to see Zuma starting matches instead of coming on as a substitute. Mahlasela can play on the wing and Zuma on the wing with, Pule Ekstein playing as a second striker and Chiefs would get a lot of goals. Let George (Maluleka) play as a number 10. Chiefs don’t need a target man and can get goals from the players they have,” he added.
Chiefs will visit Chippa United this coming weekend for their Nedbank Cup semi-final match at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
