Unimpressed Khanye On Chiefs’ Wish List, Names 8 Targets

Before the 2018/19 Absa Premiership season ended, Junior Khanye spoke to the Siya crew about the players he wished to see at his favourite, club Kaizer Chiefs for the new season.

In his wish list, which was published by the Siya crew in April, Khanye said he hope that Chiefs would sign Fortune Makaringe from Maritzburg United, Andile Jali from Mamelodi Sundowns and Thabo Rakhale from Chippa United, among other players.

The names of Siyanda Xulu, Jabulani Maluleke, Teboho Mokoena and Thela Ngobeni also made it onto the wish list of the former crowd puller.

With Makaringe having since signed for Orlando Pirates, and Ngobeni currently with Highlands Park after leaving Mamelodi Sundowns, Khanye believes that Amakhosi are not yet done in the transfer market, and has added a few names to his list of requests, which he hopes the club would consider.

So far during the transfer window, Chiefs have officially confirmed the signing of Zambian striker Lazarous Kambole, Ghanaian midfielder James Kotei, Serbian striker Samir Nurkovic, as well as midfielder Kearyn Baccus.

“For me, Kaizer Chiefs haven’t signed enough just yet. I am saying this based on what I know happened at the club in the last five years. The team’s situation right now needs players who know that club well. Chiefs need to sign eight more players. Those players should be familiar with the culture of Chiefs,” said Khanye.

“Chiefs should have signed Makaringe. Unfortunately, Pirates have signed the boy. Chiefs should go for Teboho Mokoena from SuperSport United. The club should also sign Aubrey Modiba for the left-back position and not as a winger. They should also try to sign Andile Jali from Sundowns, as he has not be playing there. He is one of the best talents I have always admired. They should also go and get Thabo Rakhale,” Khanye adds.

“Chiefs should have signed Thela Ngobeni as a back-up goalkeeper for Itumeleng Khune. I don’t want to talk about Daniel Akpeyi. Siyanda Xulu should be brought back to the club. I wish Chiefs could get Thulani Serero. Another player that I would love to see Chiefs sign, after not signing Makaringe, is Jabulani Ncobeni from AmaZulu. That boy is a very good player – a very exciting youngster. Age is still on his side. That boy is quick and makes things happen on the field. I would have loved to see Chiefs also signing Pule (Maraisane) – a very good player from Stars of Africa. But I hear he has been signed by Pirates. Another player that Chiefs should also sign is Jabulani Shongwe. Shongwe is very talented and a good player,” concluded Khanye.
