Tight: The Best Explanation Will Come From Chiefs

In an exclusive interview with Soccer Laduma this week, Joseph ‘Tight’ Molangoane opened up about his Kaizer Chiefs departure and why he thinks the club let him go after he finally made a full recovery.

After three and a half years at Naturena, Chiefs confirmed Molangoane’s departure on June 30, without the 32-year-old making a single appearance in the 2019/20 campaign.

The player had been out for quite some time with serious injuries, with his last appearance for Chiefs dating back to April 2019. Although, in January this year, Amakhosi issued a positive update on the player, revealing that he was on his way to making a successful recovery.

However, in addition to his long injury lay-off, the player’s contract was expiring on June 30 and despite him fully recovered, the Soweto giants opted against extending his contract at the club.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Soccer Laduma this week, Molangoane was asked about why he thinks Chiefs let him go now that he has recovered, despite sticking by the player during his lengthy injury lay-offs.

“Err.. I don’t want to lie, I don’t know and I think the best explanation would come from the team. Like I told you earlier, I don’t take things negatively or personal. God doesn’t make mistakes, there’s always a purpose and a bigger picture to each and everything He does. I may not know why things happened the way they did, but He does. I’m not going to say much ngaleyo (about that one) because people run their things in their own way in business. I mean, we are living in uncertain times now with this Coronavirus pandemic and no one knows what role it played in the decisions, like me being released by the club, and I respect that, fully,” he said.
