Kaizer Chiefs are gunning to win their first Absa Premiership title after five years, but if they end up lifting the trophy, they will do so without the supporters present.
The Absa Premiership campaign will resume action on August 11 and as confirmed by the Premier Soccer League yesterday, Chiefs will utilise the Orlando Stadium as their home ground for the remaining fixtures.
All games will be played behind closed doors and under strict conditions.
With just eight league matches left to be played, Amakhosi top the Absa Premiership standings with a four-point advantage over Mamelodi Sundowns at second place, and the Soweto giants are raring to get back to their title fight.
But they will miss the support of the fans, says Itumeleng Khune.
“You are the driving force behind this team and we will miss you cheering us up when the league restarts. However, we still want to make you proud and you will be that pillar of strength for us. We are at present in the number one spot and we don’t want to disappoint you when we go past the finish line,” the goalkeeper said on Chiefs’ official website.
