According to reports, goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune is doubtful for Kaizer Chiefs’ opening Telkom Knockout match, which is scheduled for next week, though the actual dates, venues and times for Last 16 matches are still to be confirmed by the PSL.
It has been confirmed that Chiefs will get their TKO campaign underway with a match against Cape Town City, following the tournament’s Last 16 draw that was conducted on Wednesday afternoon.

Meanwhile, Khune – who has been sidelined by an injury – is said to be still unavailable for the team, according to reports.
Having recently made a return for Chiefs after a long injury layoff, Khune picked up an injury against Baroka in his second match, and according to media reports, the groin injury might take the 32-year-old shot-stopper a long time to heal.
Nigeria international Daniel Akpeyi, who replaced Khune against Baroka, was in goals for Amakhosi in their last match before the FIFA international break, against Golden Arrows.

Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp has been quoted in the media as blaming himself for playing the experienced goalkeeper, and reportedly saying that ‘he was not ready’ for a second match in a row‚ which came four days after the AmaZulu clash.
Khune had been sidelined for over nine months by his previous injury, which ended his 2018/19 season prematurely in December last year.
According to reports, the player’s latest injury could take up to at least two months for him to return, though there has been no official comment from the club confirming the reports.
