Kaizer Chiefs now at least have a “bench”, coach Gavin Hunt said following Tuesday night’s 2-2 draw against Stellenbosch FC.
He was referring to the return of Khama Billiat and Leonardo Castro to the Amakhosi squad to boost their quest to fight their way back into the DStv Premiership Top 8 bracket as well as what could be a historic quarterfinals qualification in the CAF Champions League.
Castro even got one of the goals as Chiefs battled their way to earn a point at home having trailed Stellies in their encounter.
“It’s good to have them back because, as I’ve said, when we played the derby I couldn’t make any changes because we never had anything on the bench,” Hunt told the media.
“Now at least we’ve got something on the bench to make changes in that position. I wanted to give them a little bit longer, but they had 20-odd minutes, both of them. They’ve got to be ready for Saturday.”
Chiefs now travel to Guinea to face Horoya AC on Saturday and a score draw there takes the Glamour Boys to their first-ever knockout phase of the Champions League.
