Kaizer Chiefs coach Gavin Hunt may have put an end to talk of a possible Khama Billiat exit, as he commented on the player’s future.
The Siya crew recently confirmed that Amakhosi are ready to listen to offers for the Zimbabwean international, with his contract coming to an end in June. But to avoid the risk of losing him for free, they have to exercise the one-year option in his contract. The former Mamelodi Sundowns and Ajax Cape Town attacker, who joined Amakhosi on a three-year deal in 2018, has attracted interest from Egypt.

After Amakhosi’s 1-0 victory over Orlando Pirates in the Soweto Derby at FNB Stadium on Sunday, Hunt confirmed that Billiat is in his plans beyond the current campaign. Hunt is hopeful Billiat, who has been out since January with a broken leg, will be back within the next two weeks.
“He’s all in the plans. It’s only people like yourself who will say he is not in the plans. I don’t know where the story comes from. He is in the plans, so we need to get him fit. He had a broken leg. He is jogging now and hopefully in the next two weeks we can get him a little of game time,” Hunt told the media.
“We need Khama back. We’ve got to get Khama and Castro fit again, so that they can add to the options.”

Hunt, meanwhile, confirmed goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune will join up with the Bafana Bafana squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Ghana and Sudan. Khune was given time off following the death of his sister, but is back after going through the necessary COVID-19 protocols.
