A Kaizer Chiefs star who has been superb with his performances has been given a 5-star rating by South African football legend and current AmaZulu coach Benni McCarthy.
Following the match for Chiefs and AmaZulu at FNB Stadium on Wednesday, McCarthy lauded veteran Amakhosi forward Bernard Parker for his impressive performance.
Parker was named in the starting line-up in coach Stuart Baxter’s team and didn’t disappoint with his performance in the 80 minutes he played before being replaced with Lebogang Manyama.
McCarthy says the 35-year-old former FC Twente player gave his side problems with his good performance as Usuthu managed to come back from Gauteng with only a point from the 1-1 draw.
“Not our finest hour, we started on the wrong foot because I think Kaizer Chiefs in the first five minutes really brought the heat on and they brought the game to us. From the centre, they’ve had some good passage of play and nice combination up front with the intelligence of Parker and class is permanent when it comes to that player. Parker got himself into some really good spaces with pockets in front of our defence and we couldn’t really deal with the aerial balls that were coming in because he was winning every flick on and was spinning off our defenders. So, he made it a bit difficult,” said McCarthy, speaking to the media after the match.
