As part of the June 16 celebrations, a Kaizer Chiefs defender has sent a powerful and inspiring message to the people of South Africa.
This year marks 44 years since more than 500 young people of Mzansi were gunned down by the police on 16 June 1976 as they protested against the education system of that time which they opposed.
Chiefs defender Happy Mashiane has sent an inspiring message in appreciation of what the youth of 1976 fought for which the youth of today is reaping the rewards of.
“My name is Happy Mashiane – Kaizer Chiefs defender. My youth message is that we should respect and remember those who fought for us trying to make a better South Africa for everyone. This is the day the country reflects on the massacre of school children during the Soweto uprising of 1976. Amakhosi for life,” said the 22-year-old in his message sent to journalists.
