Gavin Hunt revealed that his Kaizer Chiefs side showed promise of better performances when they secured a 1-0 victory on Tuesday evening.
The Chiefs head coach got his first league win under his belt following a victory over Chippa United in the DStv Premiership, with Hunt singling out a few players who he thought did well for the team on the night.
“I thought we were much better in terms of how we want to play and how I want to see us play. Overall, the players showed up on Tuesday night. I thought Manyama, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, Njabulo Blom did well for us, and Zulu was exceptional playing in an unusual left-back. Zulu did excellently and I hope to see him dishing out more of this kind of performances,” Hunt said on Chiefs official website.
“There were more signs of a proper team on Tuesday. We played some unbelievable football at times which was good to watch. Siyabonga Ngezana is a typical uncompromising defender. Obviously, he needs game-time and as you know with centre backs, they mature with age. He is coming along nicely.”
Taking the positives from the encounter in midweek, Chiefs are currently underway with preparations for this weekend’s showdown against Orlando Pirates in the first semi-final of the MTN8 competition.
“Let us see how it goes, consistency is the most important thing in the game. We have a huge game on Saturday against Pirates. I am disappointed that we have not scored a goal from our strikers but let us win more games and collect points and get ourselves in the leaderboard. Anyone could have got a few goals but we will work on that. The team first and individual performances will follow.”
