With Gavin Hunt having taken over as the head coach of Kaizer Chiefs, a number of players he coached at Bidvest Wits are expected to join the mentor at the Soweto giants, depending on the club’s appeal against the FIFA ban.

Chiefs announced Hunt as their new coach, replacing German mentor Ernst Middendorp, who was relieved of his duties at Amakhosi last week, after failing to lead the team to the league title this past season.
During the course of the 2019/20 season, a number of players from Wits had been linked with Chiefs, and following the sale of the club’s top-flight status to Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila, reports of the players possibly moving to Amakhosi resurfaced.
With TTM having recently confirmed the move of defender Lorenzo Gordinho to Danish club Viborg FF this week, a few other players from the Students are expected to follow suit by opting for deals elsewhere as opposed to moving to Limpopo.
As reported in edition 1190 of Soccer Laduma, Sifiso Hlanti is one of the players expected to join Amakhosi depending on the club’s transfer ban, and a few others who might join their former coach at the Naturena club include Thabang Monare and Phathutshedzo Nange.
The other players from Wits who have been linked with Chiefs include Cole Alexander and Buhle Mkhwanazi, as reported by the Siya crew.
Depending on Chiefs’ two-window transfer ban appeal, which the club confirmed to have submitted last week, Hunt could be the deciding factor as to whether some of the players join the club in the coming weeks as attempts strengthening the squad for next season.
