At least five of the current free agents have formerly donned the Kaizer Chiefs jersey in their careers, but where are they heading to next?
Before moving to Mamelodi Sundowns, Lebese spent his professional career plying his trade for Amakhosi, having spent just one year short of a decade at Naturena. Finding a new home at Chloorkop was a struggle for the player, with the 30-year-old recently receiving his clearance from the club.
According to the player’s representatives, Lebese, who is now a free agent, is eyeing a move abroad as priority, although it is more likely that he will soon end up signing for a team in Mzansi.
Masilela was an integral part of the Chiefs’ setup and played some of his best football under the mentorship of Stuart Baxter at the time. However, after leaving the club last year, June 30, the left-back is still unattached, but has not decided to hang up his boots as yet.
Jayiya joined Chiefs in 2017 after leaving Cape Town City as a free agent. However, the winger struggled to break into the team and subsequently saw an early exit a few weeks before the end of last season.
The 31-year-old centre-back spent just one season at Chiefs, where he thereafter received his clearance from the club in August this year. Booysen has since been linked with Black Leopards, although the player is still a free agent.
Siphiwe ‘Shaba’ Tshabalala:
After leaving Chiefs at the end of the 2017/18 season, Shabba spent last season with Büyüksehir Belediye Erzurumspor in Turkey, although left at the end of the campaign. The 34-year-old is currently a free agent.
